I'm Shuai Xiao, and I am a senior at the University of Miami, and I have had a fascinating evolutionary journey through my education from majoring in Economics to the fascinating world of interactive media.

 

When I first entered the university, economics was my chosen path. However, fate had a different plan for me. It was during an accidental discovery in my junior year that I stumbled upon the major of interactive media, a field that would redefine my academic and professional trajectory.

 

The turning point occurred when I was asked by a friend to do his user research and test his product. This experience introduced me to the dynamic and engaging nature of interactive media, in contrast to the traditional lecture method in economics classrooms. No longer limited to passive listening to lectures, interactive media provided a hands-on, immersive learning experience that resonated with me.

 

I explored the Interactive Media program and realized that this is the major I aspire to. Despite the challenge and intensity of the coursework, each project brought me a deep sense of pride and accomplishment. Unlike my earlier experiences studying economics, I found passion and purpose in creating tangible, impactful work.
